Delayed iPhone 5 : better for Apple and Carriers

iPhone 5 delay

A recent belief says the four major U.S carriers have made an agreement secretly, to delay the iPhone 5 later in this year. This belief is nothing but b.s. However it appears that they have really made an agreement, if they haven’t, then what the heck? Why don’t we still know that why iPhone 5 is delayed? No explanation has made by Apple and they still try to keep the iPhone 4 era alive , by a white one. So why? Maybe some will benefit from this situation, since a delayed iPhone 5 will be better for the major carriers, and even for the Sprint. There appears two reasons which explains this, the first one is 4G and the second is Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint.

So you may ask yourself why the all 4 major U.S carriers want a delayed iPhone 5 with 4G. The answer is not so trivial, there are many factors, but the most important is that the most of the consumers aren’t really aware of the forthcoming 4G technology, even they don’t know and care about it, only a bunch of geeks know the true meaning of the 4G. So the most will remain ignorant about 4G until a 4G iPhone is released. So later is better, idea of 4G technology becomes solid in the consumer minds, and they may have a better understanding of it. The second reason is that Apple doesn’t think that current infrastructure of the carriers are wide enough and usable. However even the smallest of the carriers thinks that it has the best infrastructure when it comes to 4G. So a possible delay will give chance to carriers to improve and broaden the 4G network. We see that the two sides (Apple and Carriers) will benefit from the potential delay.

If we think about them, let’s consider Verizon, has a bad reputation from the late iPhone 4, and wants to re-obtain its credibility with 4G, and customers will most likely not to switch to iPhone 5, if the time span between iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 is short. What about the AT&T ? A sooner iPhone 5 will hamper its sales since it has barely a 4G network, and it should have to finish the integration with T-Mobile if it wants to benefit most. It is clear that delayed iPhone 5 is better for AT&T also. So if we consider Sprint, by now it is the only major carrier which stays away from the iPhone, and doesn’t seem to switch iPhone until a 4G iPhone released. So Sprint may be waiting for iPhone 4G to switch. From all the sides a delay will be better except the customers who wait for a sooner iPhone 5.
