Best. Name. Ever. As it stands, purplera1n only supports Windows rigs (Windows 7 and 64-bit excluded) but OS X support is on the way. Last night we told you that iPhone OS 3.1 beta was released to developers and we’re pretty sure each and every one of them has had a pretty long night of playing, err, working with the new OS. Thankfully however, one anonymous tipster took a break from getting his or her 3.1 on to send us a quick breakdown of the changes so far in this build:

• Options for MMS are back on AT&T, but not sending or receiving.
• Non-destructive video editing means trimming a clip no longer saves over the original video but gives you the option to “Save as copy…”
• Voice Control now works over Bluetooth
• iPhone vibrates when moving icons
• Updated AT&T profile to 4.2
• Updated modem firmware to 5.08.01
• Improvements to OpenGL and Quartz
• APIs to allow third party apps to access videos and edit them
• You can now paste phone numbers into the phone app’s dialer. This wasn’t possible under 3.0
• While pasting phone numbers, a neat feature is that it will convert alphanumeric phone numbers into a real phone number (e.g. 1-800-FLOWERS becomes 1-800-356-9377)
• Calendar appointment popup notifications now display the “Location” field from the calendar entry
• Ability to save video attachments in emails to your camera roll

One item we notice to be MIA from the listed changes is a fix for the widespread squealing issue we broke last month. Considering Apple’s refusal to comment on the matter, perhaps the company is just hoping everyone forgets about it. Then again, maybe Cupertino will swoop in under the radar and sneak a fix past us in the release build. Yeah, we hope the latter is the case — and our ear drums hope so, too.

We just got word from a couple tipsters telling us that Apple has posted iPhone SDK 3.1 as well as iPhone OS 3.1 for developers. While everyone was expecting a 3.0.1 update, version 3.1 seems to be here to stay. Let us know if you find anything interesting in the new build.

It seems that not a week goes by without something interesting happening within Steve Jobs playground (ie, from the iTunes App Store). The same could be said for the many Twitter applications, especially now with Tweetdeck take the scene (the Techcrunch has a review of the glorious).

While most applications such as Tweet Tweetie, etc. Support Twitterfon Upload a picture (via services such as Twitpic and TweetPhoto.com), Twittelator goes a step further by allowing users to an audio message attached, or even videos to their Tweet , a function that may not be the mullahs in Iran, very happy.

Users who upgrade to version 3.0 (both of the iPhone OS and Twittelator) will find that new multimedia key. After clicking, you will have the option of recording an audio sound bite either, or a video of any length (within reason of course).

Once collected, Twittelator will define the media to your tweet by uploading them either MobyPicture or yFrog (which seem to be making it in the media, micro blogging space).

Despite the fact that the hearing should be terrible voice (especially me) may not appeal to many Twitterholics on this additional function may be useful to help you disgust the 140-bit size limits imposed by our Twitter overlords.

While the total is an impressive feature of Twittelator, its only drawback is that users are unable to upload audio earlier pieces, but not very helpful if you try to show the world what your friend sounds like when they snore.

Yes, yes, the much rumored $99 iPhone finally came to light. But what about those 16 giggers? One of our AT&T ninjas just hit us up to let us know that the iPhone 3G 16GB model is available for $149 on a 2 year agreement on AT&T. Since Apple seems to be only touting the 8GB 3G model for $99 on their site, we’re guessing this is a “while it lasts, bitches” situation. Seriously though, you’re not going to spring the extra $50 for a brand new iPhone 3G S 16GB model? Also we’ve been told AT&T stores can now pre-order the iPhone 3G S for customers starting immediately, just like Apple.com.
