ZodTTD unveils his latest project: N64iPhone. Priced at $2.50, this homebrew N64 emulator for the iPhone features Bluetooth support, which “allows you to control the emulator with a Wii remote.” Video after the break.

Unreal on iPhone

Certainly there is much good looking iPhone games available these days, but things could be about to get a bit more interesting, as Epic has now demonstrated its Unreal Engine 3 (the same used for games like Gears of War 2 ) runs on the 3G iPhone generation 3 iPod touch to our friend Anand Shimpi of AnandTech. Unfortunately, has not announced any games or dealer who will use the engine, but it seems that at least has managed to do work very well on the hardware – although some limited demo, as seen in the video after the break . What’s more, Epic also said the engine would show “totally other mobile platform” at CES next month, but dropped no clue besides that. Already available from O2, Orange and even Tesco Mobile, the UK’s third largest carrier, Vodafone, finally announced this morning that it will begin selling the ubiquitous Apple smartphone on January 14th. Vodafone subs will be able to snag either the iPhone 3G or the iPhone 3GS for free on all tariffs over £35 and £45 respectively. Both of these prices assume a 24-month contract, but an extra £5 will shave off 6 months. Anyone interested in tethering should pencil an extra £5 into their monthly budget as that’s what Vodafone says will buy you the right to 500MB of data for tethering. One must pay to play, we suppose.

Vodafone has decided if we can give the iPhone for the holidays, will be the second best option and the spill details of its launch and the price of Apple’s finest. Available from 14 January, the iPhone will be yours for £ 30 ($ 48) per month for two-year contracts, but so will the charges against him in 239 pounds ($ 386) for the 32GB variety 3GS. While many of you Big Red subscribers would love to have the iPhone on your network, we’re not sure it looks like things are getting closer to materializing. When AT&T picked up the iPhone, some could say it wasn’t prepared for the massive spike in data usage and as a consequence, has been taking a lot of heat for that. With rumors flying that AT&T is losing its exclusivity deal with Apple soon, Verizon Wireless Chief Technology Officer Anthony Melone told BusinessWeek, “We have put things in place already. We are prepared to support that traffic.”

Of course, everyone knows that the iPhone only comes in one flavor: UMTS. Most analysts think a CDMA iPhone isn’t very practical given where Verizon’s technology is going, and we’d have to agree a straight CDMA only iPhone wouldn’t make sense. Does this mean the build out of LTE is getting done more rapidly? Or more specifically, will there be a LTE iPhone? Only time will tell with Apple, but for customers of the largest U.S. carrier, it’s reassuring to know that your network is ready for the iPhone. But we already knew that.

It goes without saying that this is nothing more than a rumor, but alleged images of the next generation iPhone casing have surfaced from China. Said to feature a slip-resistant matte black coating and be made of metal as opposed to iPhone 3G’s plastic, the case in the photo even features a new model number of A1303 and all of the appropriate FCC ID numbers that are not usually found on your typical iPhone-related fakery/Photoshop job. One thing of note is that while the rumor does state that the back casing is made of metal, as you’ll see in the last photo after the jump looks suspiciously like it was made of injection-molded plastic. Plus as anyone who had the first iPhone will remember, the reception was often extremely spotty due the metal backing interfering with RF signals. On the flip side of the coin however, the leaked iPhone 3G case that ended up being real last time around originated from the same spot as these photos – the iPodObserver blog. Granted it wasn’t quite as far before the 3G’s release but hey, you never know. Hit the jump for a couple more pics.
